Event #1 – East Village and Lower East Side (July 2024)
New York City is home to thousands of pizzerias, each offering its own unique take on the perfect slice. With so many options, the best way to experience NYC’s pizza scene is by hitting the streets and trying multiple spots in one go. That’s exactly what we did on our latest NYC Pizza Crawl, where we explored five incredible pizza joints across the East Village and Lower East Side.
Stop #1: Cello’s Pizzeria
Our first stop was Cello’s Pizzeria, a cozy gem nestled in the heart of St. Marks Place. Cello’s is known for its naturally leavened dough and dedication to high-quality ingredients. Their slices strike the perfect balance between crispy, airy, and flavorful. The tomato sauce had a fresh tang, and the crust had that perfect New York chew. A fantastic way to kick off the crawl!

Stop #2: East Village Pizza
Next up, we hit East Village Pizza, a neighborhood staple that’s been slinging pies since 1997. Famous for their oversized slices and gooey, cheesy goodness, this spot delivered exactly what we were craving. Their Sicilian slice was a standout—perfectly thick, with a crispy bottom and pillowy dough. The garlic knots here also deserve an honorable mention!

Stop #3: Pizza Loves Sauce
With a name like Pizza Loves Sauce, we knew this place would be special. Located on Houston Street, this shop takes its sauce game seriously, and it shows. Their vodka slice was one of the best we’ve had, with a creamy, rich tomato sauce that paired beautifully with fresh mozzarella. If you’re a sauce enthusiast, this place is a must-visit!

Stop #4: Williamsburg Pizza (Lower East Side)
A trip to the Lower East Side wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Williamsburg Pizza. Their square slices are legendary, but their thin, crisp slices hold their own as well. The Grandma slice was a fan favorite—thin, crunchy, and topped with a perfectly balanced tomato sauce and fresh basil. You can always count on Williamsburg Pizza for consistency and quality.

Stop #5: Grand Street Pizza
We wrapped up the crawl at Grand Street Pizza, a no-frills joint that knows how to serve a solid slice. Their classic New York-style cheese slice was simple, satisfying, and exactly what you want in a classic NYC pizza experience. Sometimes, the simplest things are the best.
